FOUNDATIONS OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION

SPRING 2018

In the spring of 2018, I was tasked in creating a teacher taught a program that would help teachers at my school stay up to date with current technology practices and be pedagogically correct for the grade level that the teachers taught while also being developmentally appropriate for k-5 students. I chose two applications that our school already had some background information on and then went on to expand it. I asked teachers which tool they would like to learn more about. I then took that information and found that teachers would like to use discussion tools more often. I then created a 6-week course on using the discussion features in seesaw and schoology.

In the course Develop of Tech-Based Instruction, I was tasked with connecting different concepts and answers questions like Who are the stakeholders involved in online learning? What is the sequence those stakeholders take to make it happen? Which systems do they interact with?  I chose to use my graphic design skills and create a smooth clean cut chart.  This assignment made me think of how ADDIE, HORTONS, and BACKWARD design processes all work harmoniously.

Diversity of Learners-Candidates foster a learning community that empowers learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities

3.6

I chose to highlight a simple yet powerful artifact. I decided to do my comic on the frustration of a gifted child prior to learning that they are gifted. My gifted classroom is sometimes filled with there children who we get flustered with and they simply just need to be challenged. While the comic strip/ storyboard is simple, it displays a different type of educational diversity. During this time, I was talking a class about gifted children who often did not show if they were gifted because of behavior. These children can often show defiance because they are not challenged enough. This defiance can frustrate many and often it takes one teacher or adult who can see these glimmers of gifted learner in them.
